no such luck

He won't go, I am not surprised. Sad, disappointed, maybe a little pissed off yes. Surprised, not at all.

That's too bad. I was really hoping that it would turn out okay for your father, but unfortunately, people will make their own decisions regardless of who they hurt and whether or not the choice is a good one.

Having been on the other side of the coin, I can understand his feelings. It's amazing how difficult it can be to give up something that almost feels like a part of you.

That being said, he doesn't deserve pity, and you've already done all that you can do. There's nothing more from here, and if something bad happens it will be his own fault.

It's pretty unfortunate, though.
